There is still a chance that Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard could become a member of the Brooklyn Nets, according to league sources.

The Nets and the Magic are discussing a trade that would send Howard to the Nets for Brook Lopez, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks and the Nets’ first-round draft picks in 2013, 2015 and 2017, sources said. Lopez and Humphries, who are both free agents, would go to Orlando in sign-and-trade deals.

“There’s only one team on my list and if I don’t get traded there, I’ll play the season out and explore my free agency after that,” Howard told Yahoo! Sports on Monday.

Howard did not specify the team, but Magic general manager Rob Hennigan confirmed Monday what multiple league sources have told ESPN — Howard wants to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets, making that clear in a meeting the GM had with the Magic center Friday.

The Magic fired coach Stan Van Gundy and split with general manager Otis Smith on Monday, the culmination of a season in which Orlando was ensnared in a long-running soap opera with Dwight Howard and made another first-round playoff exit.

…Orlando went 37-29 in the regular season but was eliminated in five games by Indiana after a rash of late-season injuries that included back surgery for Howard. Orlando went 5-12 without him.

Now, let’s look at someone who SHOULD win the MVP. Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic. Has anyone looked at a stat sheet recently? Dwight leads the Magic in Points, Rebounds, Steals, Blocks, and Field Goal Percentage. He is the MAN in Orlando. Do you know who his number #2 is in Orlando? Ryan fucking Anderson. That’s his number two. Lebron has Dwayne Wade, Durant has Russell Westbrook. Dwight has Ryan Anderson.

Why is Dwight smiling? Maybe because he put up 24 point and 25 rebounds in an overtime win against the Heat.
