Said Howard, “As of right now, I have on a Magic uniform. Right? So I’m with nobody else, and that’s the only thing that matters. And if it’s meant for me to stay here, then I’ll stay. And I love this city. There’s no place I’d rather be but here in Orlando. And I just want to make sure that we have the right things here so we can win a championship.
Could Dwight Howard actually return and play out the remainder of his contract for the Orlando Magic this season? He’s hinted time and again he wants to get dealt because he’s unlikely to sign in Orlando next summer when he’s an unrestricted free agent. But, Brian Schmitz for the Orlando-Sentinel gives Magic fans some reason to hope.
In something of an about-face, Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard opened the door a crack for a return at media day, saying “if you’re willing to do what it takes to win, then you know, you’ve got me.”
Howard has asked to be traded, frustrated with the team’s direction.
Said Howard, “As of right now, I have on a Magic uniform. Right? So I’m with nobody else, and that’s the only thing that matters. And if it’s meant for me to stay here, then I’ll stay. “And I’m all about change. If you’re willing to change and you’re willing to do what it takes to win, then, you know, you’ve got me. And if you’re not willing to do what it takes to win, I don’t think anybody here would question anybody’s motives if you want to stay in the same position you are.”I think he’s headed to New Jersey or even LA, but I doubt the Magic will sit on him and repeat the mistakes of the Cavaliers during the summer of 2010. You gotta deal him now so you can get a foundation to grow in return. Dwight is gone, so the Magic need to get as much as they can for him. That is, if Stern doesn’t veto a deal.
Fuckin’ Stern.
